When your visit is for a diagnosed or monitored eye condition, your medical insurance typically covers:
✓ Diabetic eye exams and retinal monitoring
✓ Diabetic retinopathy evaluation and imaging
✓ Glaucoma testing, monitoring, and management
✓ Macular degeneration evaluation and monitoring
✓ Dry eye disease evaluation and treatment (including punctal plugs and prescription therapies)
✓ Eye disease management and ocular disease monitoring
✓ Foreign body removal
✓ Emergency eye care visits (during office hours)
Medical eye care visits are billed under your medical insurance rather than your vision plan. Medicaid is accepted for eligible medical eye care.
